Cloudy Day (Summer Part Three)

I don't really like how I look. Easy to say hard to live in. I don't like how my hair falls on my face, or only how certain angles seem to look good on me. I never wear makeup so I sometimes feel undervalued to the people around me because I don't put in the effort they do. And worst of all I don't believe God when he reminds me I'm perfectly fine the way I am. So on the first day of the year that feels a little like fall (aka seventy two degrees) I went outside and took pictures of myself that I like, and got excited for fun instead of bringing myself down. I wore a baggy green sweater, ripped jeans, and brown combat boots. And I refused to let myself be dissapointed with how they turned out, because I was being less vain for one thing, and more just enjoying the fact that I look like no one in the world and that God is proud of His creation. I think the two lessons I learned from this little photo shoot are firstly, that the greatest mistake I can make right now is focusing more on the way I appear/act in front of others then dwelling on God. And secondly that if people do in fact judge me....they just so happen to be judging a pure creation of God, and that's not my problem to deal with.

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. -Ephesians 2:10

So in conclusion, I hope you go about your day from here just being reminded of your worth, and that no appearance isn't perfect to God! :)

Until I resume my soap box,

-Emily

PS: After this post I will still be posting thoughts but in a less random and more centralized way. I have come up with several post "series" that I am excited to start! So stay tuned later this fall ;)

  1. Thanks for sharing, Emily! I think we all feel that way sometimes--I know I do. Good idea to take some photos--my favorites are your beautiful smile, and the aerial one that shows your lovely braided hair. Love you!

  2. I agree with your conclusions and love who God made you to be! I agree with Aunt Carrie that I love the one of your hair braided!
